- Phone theft and extraction. A stolen phone can be plugged into forensic tools to pull data off it, especially if it has been unlocked since it last restarted.
- Malicious apps and tracking. Apps with broad permissions can read your clipboard, files and contacts, and reveal your location.

Questions
Should I keep my seed phrase on my phone?
No. Keep your seed phrase offline, never in photos, notes, cloud storage or password managers on your phone. For larger holdings, a hardware wallet is the safest place for your keys.
Can I run crypto wallet apps on GrapheneOS?
Many wallet apps work on GrapheneOS, installed directly or through a sandboxed app store. Check the wallets you rely on before you buy.
How does a data-only eSIM help against SIM swaps?
A data-only eSIM has no phone number, so there's nothing for a scammer to port or swap, and it isn't registered in your name. Keep exchange and wallet logins on an authenticator app or passkey, not SMS.
What if I'm forced to unlock my phone?
GrapheneOS offers a duress PIN: entering it instead of your real PIN wipes the phone. Our configuration can also wipe it automatically if it isn't unlocked within a set time.
